This stadium was built in Unosumai area that sustained serious damage from
the tsunami that occurred during the Great East Japan Earthquake on March
11, 2011. It was used as one of the venues for the Rugby World Cup 2019,
and became a hot topic. Kamaishi City applied to host the Rugby World Cup
2019 in Japan, the first tournament to be held in Asia, in 2019, as a symbol
of the city's recovery, and to give hope, courage, and dreams to the children
who will lead the future. Kamaishi was the only city among the 12 host
cities in Japan that did not have a stadium, so it built the stadium on
the site of a damaged elementary and junior high school, creating a sports
park with the aim of recovering from the Great East Japan Earthquake.

| MIRACLE PINE TREE |

Among the approximately 70,000 pine trees that once lined the coastline, there is one that survived the tsunami of the Great East Japan Earthquake with both its branches and trunk intact. The pine tree was nicknamed the "Miracle Pine Tree" for its survival after enduring the tsunami, and became a "symbol of hope" for the recovery. It sprouted in 1839 and dead in May 2012, making it 173 years old. After its death, the 27.5 meters -tall Miracle Pine Tree was preserved and maintained to be passed down to future generations as a symbol of recovery, and now stands in the same place as before as a "monument." You can go under the Miracle Pine Tree and view it freely. It's not possible to drive close to it, but there are free parking lots nearby. In addition, growing successor trees by grafting seeds and branches taken from the pine tree.

| HORAIJIMA Island |

HORAIJIMA Island is a small island in OTSUCH Bay, with a circumference
of about 200 meters , and is shaped like a gourd with two hills, one large
and one small. The smaller hill was where the OTUCHI Port Lighthouse was
located, but it collapsed from the base in the Great East Japan Earthquake
on March 11, 2011. It was rebuilt in December 2012. The design of the rebuilt
lighthouse was chosen from among the townspeople. The red light represents
the sun rising over the horizon, expressing a wish to brighten the town's
future, while the main body, which is shaped like an hourglass, expresses
a strong will to rebuild. There is BENTEN Shrine on the island, where a
statue of Benten is enshrined, and it has long been revered as the guardian
deity of abundant catches and safe navigation. Although HORAIJIMA Island
is an island, you can walk across to it from the mainland via a breakwater.
