JODOGAHAMA Beach JYODOGAHAMA is "pure land beach" in Japanese 31N003
Jodogahama beach is a scenic spot representative of the Sanriku region (Sanriku refers to the Coast, which straddles Aomori, Iwate, and Miyagi prefectures, and the Kitakami Mountains inland from there). Sharp, white rhyolite rocks stand in a forest, providing a magnificent landscape. The rocks of Jodogahama beach are said to have been formed approximately 52 million years ago. The contrast between the green of the pine trees, the white of the rocks, and the blue of the sea truly evokes the feeling of paradise. From April to October, only taxis and large buses are allowed on the road from Parking Lot 1 to Oku (inner) -Jodogahama. The road is closed at night (from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.) throughout the year

Cape TODOGASAKI easternmost cape of Honshu, located 31N004
Cape TODOGASAKI is the easternmost cape of Honshu, located on the OMOE Peninsula in Miyako City, Iwate Prefecture. The surrounding rocks are the result of volcanic activity that occurred in the nearby Kitakami Mountains about 130 million years ago, and are also a geosite of the Sanriku Geopark. There is no road to the lighthouse, so you have to walk 3.8 kilometers one way from the starting point, ANEYOSHI Campsite (the end of the road), on the Michinoku Sea Breeze Trail for about 1 hour and 30 minutes. First, you will climb to an altitude of 110 meters, and then the road is almost flat until you reach the lighthouse. There are toilets at the campsite and on the lighthouse grounds. Bears may appear, so you will need to bring some protective goods.

GOISHI (GO stones) Coast one of Natural Monument 31N005
GOISHI (GO Stones) Coast is located in the southern part of the SANRIKU (Sanriku refers to the Coast, which straddles Aomori, Iwate, and Miyagi prefectures, and the KITKAMI Mountains inland from there) Coast. It is a Natural Monument with its ria coastline and pebble beaches, and has been designated as a national park. The black mudstone (hornfels) that is the basis of the GO stones stretches for about 7 kilometers. There are scenic spots called the Eight Views of GOISHI, including ANATOSIISO, which has three caves, through which a boatman can skillfully navigate (operating from June to November). The GOISHI Coast Lighthouse at the tip of the peninsula is known as the "Lighthouse of Love" for the striking contrast between the white lighthouse towering in the pine forest and the blue sky. There are walking paths around the GOISHI Coast, so it's easy to walk around the spots..

HORAIJIMA Island a gourd-shaped small island 31N007
HORAIJIMA Island is a small island in OTSUCH Bay, with a circumference of about 200 meters , and is shaped like a gourd with two hills, one large and one small. The smaller hill was where the OTUCHI Port Lighthouse was located, but it collapsed from the base in the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11, 2011. It was rebuilt in December 2012. The design of the rebuilt lighthouse was chosen from among the townspeople. The red light represents the sun rising over the horizon, expressing a wish to brighten the town's future, while the main body, which is shaped like an hourglass, expresses a strong will to rebuild. There is BENTEN Shrine on the island, where a statue of Benten is enshrined, and it has long been revered as the guardian deity of abundant catches and safe navigation. Although HORAIJIMA Island is an island, you can walk across to it from the mainland via a breakwater.

RYUSENDO Cave one of three largest limestone caverns in Japan 31N008
RYUSENDO Cave is one of the three largest limestone caves in Japan, and is designated as a national natural monument along with the bats that live in the cave. The total length of the cave is known to be 4,088m, of which 700m is open to the public. There are still many unknown parts, and it is believed that the total length may be over 5,000 meters, and investigations are still ongoing. Eight underground lakes have been discovered, three of which are open to the public. The mysterious underground lakes, which were created over an eternity of time, shine in a deep blue color known as "dragon blue." The temperature inside the cave is around 10℃ all year round, so light clothing is prohibited even in summer.
