| In March 2011, after the incredible Earthquake and Tsunami that struck the Tohoku (Northeastern) region of Japan, we moved from Nagoya (one of the most major city in Japan located in the central Japan) to Aizu-Wakamatsu in Fukushima Pref., known as SAMURAI CITY, with the hope of Fukushima's recovery, and then established a new brand named TRAVELMART® for our DMC business. (TRAVELMART® is a registered trademark of our travel business in Japan.) |

and is especially recommending a travel to the TOHOKU (=northeastern) region
in Japan. |
The TOHOKU region is an area that consists of six prefectures (Aomori Pref., Iwate Pref., Miyagi Pref., Akita Pref., Yamagata Pref., and Fukushima Pref.).
Furthermore, because Niigata Pref. is geographically close to the six pref.
mentioned above, it is sometimes included in the Tohoku region.
It is located in the northeastern part to the northernmost tip of Japan's
largest island, Honshu Island and is surrounded by the Sea of Japan and
the Pacific Ocean.
It is also well known for its countryside, mountains, lakes, hot springs,
sake (Wine made from rice), high quality rice and rough winters.
In addition, the TOHOKU region is one of the most histrical/traditional
regions in Japan, and is blessed with romantic and stunning views and many
mysterious spots.
It is also home to spectacular powder ski courses, golf, mountain climbing,
rafting, fishing, houseback riding and other sports activities.
It occupies about 30 percent of the area of Honshu Island. |
In the TOHOKU region, there is airports and JR Shinkansen stations in each
prefecture.
When entering Japan from major airports, such as Narita or Haneda International
Airport, you can use Tohoku Shinkansen, Joetsu Shinkansen, Yamagata Shinkansen,
Akita Shinkansen, and Hokkaido Shinkansen lines from JR Tokyo Station,
or a domestic airline route from Tokyo Haneda International Airport and
easily get to Tohoku region.
Moreover, there are many foreign regular airline services to the airports
in Tohoku mainly to Sendai Airport. |
As stated above, the TOHOKU region was hit by the uncredible big earthequake
and tsunami of March 11, 2011 and the ensuing nuclear accidnt. However,
all areas of the TOHOKU resion are now safe and almost of all attractions
reopened already.
The TOHOKU region revived from damages of big earthquake, tunami and nuclear
accident and will be welcoming many travelers as past. |
| Just FYI, TRAVELMART® is able to arrange a visit to the FUKUSIMA nuclear
power plant accident site and related locations caused by the 2011 earthquake
and tsunami called Great East Japan Earthquake (It may sound scary, but
this experience is simply not available anywhere else in the world). |

Some people travel abroad without purchasing travel insurance, using only the overseas travel insurance provided by their credit card, or without purchasing any insurance at all.
However, if hospitals in other countries cannot confirm that traveler has
insurance, traveler may not be able to receive treatment, anf in severe
cases this could be life-threatening.
