Kagoshima Ken ("Ken" in Japanese means prefecture), located in the southern part of Kyushu Island, is one of Japan's leading agricultural prefectures. Its capital is Kagoshima City. It consists of two peninsulas, the Satsuma Peninsula and the Osumi Peninsula, and many remote islands. Mainland Kagoshima has warm winters and long summers, but receives a lot of rainfall. The prefecture is divided into seven major regions.
