Hiroshima Ken ("Ken" in Japanese means prefecture) is located in the central part of the Sanyo region in western Honshu, Japan, and faces the Seto Inland Sea to the south. The prefectural capital is Hiroshima City. Precipitation is low, and the prefecture is generally said to be warm even in winter. The prefecture has two metropolitan areas: the Hiroshima metropolitan area and the Fukuyama metropolitan area (both derived from place names). Manufacturing dominates the prefecture's industry, but agriculture and fishing are also thriving thanks to the prefecture's abundant nature.
