Chiba Ken ("Ken" in Japanese means prefecture) is located in Japan's Kanto region, east of Tokyo. Its capital is Chiba City. Most of the prefecture is made up of the Boso Peninsula, and it has a long coastline. Facing the Pacific Ocean, where the Kuroshio Current (a warm current) flows offshore. It has many flat areas and little undulation, so it enjoys a relatively warm climate throughout the year. It is often used as a summer resort. The prefecture is divided into four regions: the Central Region, centered on Chiba City, as well as the Western Region, Eastern Region, and Southern Region.
