Miyagi Ken ("Ken" in Japanese means prefecture) is Miyagi Prefecture
is located in the southeastern part of the Tohoku region.
It faces the Pacific Ocean to the east, and Matsushima, located in the
central part of the prefecture, is a scenic spot in an archipelago that
is counted among Japan's three most scenic spots. To the west, it borders
the Ou Mountains, with its towering, beautiful peaks. The prefecture has
a mild climate all year round. The prefecture is made up of seven areas:
Kesennuma area, Ishinomaki area, Tome area, Kurihara area, Osaki area,
Sendai area, and Sennan area. Sendai is the largest city in the Tohoku
region. |

Kesennuma has one of the largest fishing ports in Japan. There are also
many restaurants serving shark fin dishes. |

Rime trees can only be seen in a limited number of areas in Japan.
The beautiful shapes created by snow and ice are a seasonal sight in Zao during the harsh winter.
At Zao, you can ride a snowmobile out to the deep snowy rime trees and
